Well, I did it. I quit my job today. Here’s proof:
It is time for me to resign from my position as Senior Specialist in Communications at Target effective April 23, 2010. I feel so fortunate to have worked with such wonderful people over the past five years. I have learned a tremendous amount and have found myself doing things at Target that I was amazed to realize I could do.
My plans for the future include working as the publicity and business development director for my friend’s art business, working as a business consultant, and freelance writing. In addition, my plans include spending time with my husband, cooking healthy food for my family, exercising, and being there as my son grows up (too fast!).
I’m totally freaked out. But it helps to focus on the few things I know for sure:
- I need more time and energy for the people I love and the things I want to try
- I want my son to learn to follow his heart
- Leading by example is the only way to teach a child the important lessons in life
I hope that my reasons are clear and that you understand my decision was not made lightly or because I am unhappy at Target. I look forward to keeping in touch as this team evolves and makes even stronger contributions to this amazing company.
