Hiram: 2 Years + 2 Months
August 8, 2011 § 3 Comments
So far, Hiram’s 2’s are proving to be anything but terrible. In fact, our little family seems to have really found its stride this summer– definitely one of the happier times of my life to date. Here are a few of the things Hiram has been doing to help make it so:
Talking: Oh! So many words out of this little man. He’ll repeat anything you say, but as a question. Like this:
Me: “It’s time to make dinner.”
Hiram: “Time to make dinner?”
He’s also started saying, “Oh man!” which is totally my fault and totally adorable. His favorite adjective is still yellow, which he uses as an answer to almost any question for which it can apply. A recent awesome application was when I asked him what kind of dirty diaper he had. “Yellow,” he said, and he was right.
Daddy! Giki! Josh! As any parent can attest, there are times when a two-year-old needs to be told “no.” Hiram hates this. He’s gotten pretty good at the “silence before the storm” approach to tantrums, starting with a lowered chin, a moment of quiet disbelief and then a huge wail of despair. The wail though, isn’t just a whaaaaaa-sound. It’s a hodge-podge cry-out for any/all people who:
- Aren’t you
- Might possibly take his side
Bicycles and Pizza: A few weeks ago, we met Megan and Patrick at a pizza place just off Minnehaha creek. It was a fun night, but I didn’t realize then just how much of an impression it made on Hiram. Almost every time we ask him what he wants to do, he says he wants to ride bicycles to pizza. Good idea!
