Wiif’um to the Rescue

One piece of advice I’ve received in my quest to get Hiram on the happy track to big brotherhood was to focus on what Corporate America annoyingly calls “The WIIFM.”

Not to editorialize here, but I have actually heard people say this phrase in meetings. They say, “the wiff’um.”

What is this wiff’um? It’s jargon for “What’s In It For Me” and is a decent concept if you can avoid associating it with some kind of weird sniffing visual. Actually, I’m surprised I didn’t think of this before. Being a communicator and all.

The angle that seems to be getting the most traction is the “big boy” campaign. Hiram loves being a big boy. You already know he couldn’t be prouder of his move to a big boy bed. He’s also having fun wearing pull-ups, going down big-boys slides and drinking out of our cups.

How’s this for big boy campaign logic:

1) Being a Big Boy = Awesome

2) Being a Big Boy = Being a Big Brother

Therefore:

3) Being a Big Brother = Awesome

We’re still working on the first step in this logic solution but I’m already feeling more optimistic. We’re gonna get there.
