Hiram: 2 Years + 4 Months
October 10, 2011 § 4 Comments
A third of the way through Hiram’s second year and it’s starting to get hard to limit my anecdotal stories to just three. There are so many new things to report!
Action Thriller: Hiram is at that point where mechanics are the only remaining obstacle to talking. When we ask him what he did at school, he tells us. Big long stories complete with hand gestures and sound effects. In fact, according to Hiram, almost everything that happens at day care ends with some kind of huge crash or explosion. Oh! I want to know more of what he’s saying. So bad.
Choo Choo. Hiram is in a bit of a train phase, which is handy considering trains are a topic that comes up a lot in the world of a 2-year-old. We sing train songs in music class. We have a dinotrain book from the library. We see trains when we’re out and about. Of course, no train is as great as the one he built in our dining room. Hiram will play with this train indefinitely.
1-2-3-A-B-C. Kudos to daycare for helping me realize Hiram is ready for sequences! Hiram can count to 10 and sings sections of the ABCs with vigor. He also likes anything else that comes in order, including days of the week and colors of the rainbow. Amazing!
