And Then…there were four.

Here we are. A family of four. Simple as that.
We just finished our first weekend together and as I was expecting, there were times when the newness made things feel foreign and strange. There were new dynamics– feelings of excitement, trepidation, jealousy and, well, exhaustion. There were new twists to old routines. There were new things to address. But what was also there, more often than I guess I was expecting, was the feeling that this little family of four is absolutely, perfectly right. Without paying attention or trying too hard, our family has already started creating memories together. Ones I hope I never forget.
- Hiram insisting on wearing his monster costume on our mother/son outing to SuperValue
- Brad, Eldyn and Hiram watching the game
- The four of us listening to the noisy crows on our 10-minute walk around the block
It’s hard to believe that only a week ago, we were 3. Hiram, Brad and I knew each other so well and we knew what to expect from each day. As I sit here groggy from a few rough nights in a row, it’s easy to see what’s hard about now. But then, happiness keeps coming too.
