Hiram: 2 years + 9 months
March 6, 2012 § 2 Comments
Hiram’s three-fourths of the way through his second year and can’t hold still long enough to let me take a picture that isn’t blurry. Things are getting crazy around here.
No time for ready! Let’s just go! From morning til night, Hiram’s quick little feet can be heard running and jumping all over the house. (The kitchen! The bedroom! Back to the kitchen!) At 6 this morning I went to check on my early riser and found him jumping on and off his bed. Over and over. With a huge smile on his face. “Do you want to play with me?” he said.
1 & 2 & 3 & 4: In the past few weeks, Hiram’s gotten distinctly better at keeping time with music. Instead of just banging his drum or clapping arbitrarily, he bangs and claps with the beat. Or, in the case of his feet, the micro-beat (see above).
Don’t Laugh: Almost every day now, Hiram says something hilarious. The problem is, he isn’t trying to be funny. He’s asking a legitimate question or making a valid observation and gets his feelings hurt if Brad or I laugh. Here is a list of things we’ve had to explain to Hiram without laughing this month:
- Why you wouldn’t ask an ice cream man for “hair” ice cream
- Why his (nursing) mommy wears two sports bras when she goes running
- Why this Viking is eating a banana
