Oh, the fourth of July. It was appropriately consistent with our 2012 trend of setting a low bar and then seeing it through.
We made the most of “cooler” temperatures in the morning with a run and swim at the lakes. The afternoon included bubble tea, grilling and a late night drive to watch the fireworks from the car.
I thought it was a little depressing to watch fireworks this way (it reminded me of the year my brother and I had still-contagious chicken pox) but I made Brad drive over the Mendota Bridge twice so I could keep watching all the grand finales at once. That was the best part.
That, and watching Hiram drink his very own triple berry shake with tri colored jellies, or, “gooeys” as he liked to say. Here he is showing one off after successfully sucking it through the fat straw.
Just for fun, I thought I’d post what I wrote for the last two fourth of July’s too. So as to compare and contrast, you know?
