Swimmin’ At first, I was worried we had gone overboard in the swim trunks department (count = 3), but it turns out, not. Ask Hiram what he’d like to do at any given moment and he’ll say, “swim.” He’s not kidding either. He’ll swim until he’s completely wrinkled up and still doesn’t see any reason to stop. His favorite tricks are alligator crawl swimming, getting the back of his head wet, blowing bubbles with his mouth (and almost his nose) and tackling daddy.

I’m telling. If Hiram was a texter, he’d have gone over his limit this month. Daily, he comes up with new things he hopes to remember and then tell his friends at school. Playground topics for the past month included: finding a little green caterpillar, his plans to go camping with daddy and the swim noodle we impulse purchased at Target last weekend.

Bike Chatter: As the bigger brother, Hiram got promoted to a seat on the back of my bike this year. I must say, it’s one of my favorite new developments. He sits back there and provides continual commentary on what he sees. “That’s a big tree. Somebody was naughty. That person is riding a bike too.” On and on and on. The other day, he got quiet for a minute and I wondered what he was thinking about. Then I felt a little tug, tug, tug as he pulled my shirt down. “I could see your underwear,” he said.
