Eldyn has started telling us when he’s happy. Hearing him define moments of happiness in his life is amazing.

He’ll be playing outside or riding in his stroller or “tickling me” while he gets a ride on the bike and all of a sudden, I’ll hear his little voice say “Happy.” I love knowing he’s happy, but I also love knowing that he knows he’s happy. It’s exceptional.

At a point in his life when every word he knows has some essential role – asking for food or drink, declaring his independence, being included – he has prioritized this desire to say how he feels.

Incidentally, Eldyn seems to think that the best song to sing when you’re happy is “Happy Birthday.” Appropriately, this song ends in “Yaaaaaaaay!”
