What better day to blog about a
super annoying strange phenomenon happening at our house in 2013 (a.k.a. 20 the thirteenth): Every. Single. Time. This family has something to look forward to, something bad happens. Not super bad, mind you. But annoying bad. Screw up your plans bad. For example, when Brad and I take work off for a date day, someone gets sick. Also. Every single holiday, someone gets sick. Also. Every family vacation, someone breaks a bone.
But otherwise? On regular, boring days when it would be easy to deal with some small issue? Everyone is fine.
We are convinced 2013 knows when we are looking forward to something and screws it up on purpose to be mean. Which is why we have started talking about the things we’re looking forward to like this:
Maybe we should go to the lake this weekend? Or not. Not is fine too. We really don’t care either way. Then next weekend? We could go for a bike ride but we don’t really care if we do or not so don’t go thinking we really want to because we don’t. We also don’t want it to be the holidays because they’re boring. And we hate birthdays.
Sadly, making plans this way seems to work. In fact, since we’ve started taking a detached attitude, we haven’t had a single foiled day.
Happy Friday the 13th everyone!
