Hiram: 5 Years + 3 Months

Clearly, this needs to be the Kindergarten edition of Hiram’s monthly update. It’s easy to forget how much there is to figure out when you go to Kindergarten but Hiram’s doing a great job. Here are a few of my favorite stories from Hiram’s first days in The Big K.
To Throw or Not to Throw? On day two, Hiram came home and told me he hadn’t been sure whether or not to throw his Tupperware in the garbage after lunch. He thought it over and decided that even though he saw some other kids throwing theirs away, he should bring his home. “We put ours in the dishwasher, right mama?”
Hi: Hiram can be so, so, so shy. Which is why I was so, so, so, SO happy to hear him tell me this story at the end of day three: “There was a boy playing on the Japanese (trapeze?) bars and I said “Hi, what’s your name?” and he said his name but I forgot it and he said “What’s your name?” and I said “I’m Hiram. And he seems like he could make a nice friend.”
Gamer: On Day Six, Hiram came home buzzing about all the new games he played in gym. He couldn’t wait to teach them to us so we made a point to head out to the yard right after dinner. Either Hiram plays very complicated games in gym, or he just made all those games up on the fly. “No mom, the ball needs to bounce three times and hit my foot right here!”
