Farm Report – August Week 2

August 11, 2015 § Leave a comment

After a little hot-weather slump, I’m back to loving my vegetable garden. It didn’t hurt that B made dinner on Sunday just to buy me another hour of time in the garden. I used those precious moments to harvest a bunch of wilty-looking stuff (not pictured) and then re-planted for a fall harvest! On deck for fall is lettuce, kale, radish, peas and broccoli. Tomatoes are coming like crazy and we had to re-purpose the hockey net to keep the squirrels at bay. We have one curly cucumber, a few promising soybean pods and a very big, budgie squash plant which better enjoy itself because I have learned my lesson about squash.

Here’s a picture of beans and a carrot Eldyn insisted on pulling a bit prematurely. Instead of thinking about this very short carrot, let’s focus on the fact that we grew really nice long beans.
